How to be a great friend

Ask your little one how they can be a great friend to their classmates?

We have already learned that we should keep our hands and feet to ourselves, ask friends to play with us, share, and love every one for their unique qualities. The beginning of kindergarten may include a lot of tattling and friends getting upset easily. Do not worry! Trust takes time! Every morning, we will read our class promise and pledge to become great friends!

Our class is a family and students should feel comfortable and safe every day.  We love these smiling faces and all of the relationships that have already formed in our class. Miss Wenzel and I look forward to a wonderful year developing relationships with all of you and your little ones. If you have any questions, please email us at hawass@duvalschools.org and/or wenzels@duvalschools.org.

A tiny peek into our day...

Today went by way too fast! We went on a tour of the school using the book, David Goes to School by David Shannon. It's about a little boy who breaks all of the rules in school. We looked everywhere for David!! We looked in the classroom, media center, office, playground, and art room. We finally found him sitting in our classroom. As we looked for David, we discussed what the rules are in all of these places at our school. Ask your little one a rule that they learned today and leave a comment. Enjoy the pictures!!

     We love exploring math manipulatives!
How cute is our class? Today, we learned how to walk in line using a hip and lip or hug and bubble.
We went outside and talked about the rules of the playground. We only stayed outside for 10 minutes because it was very hot.

**Remember when you leave a comment you are more than welcome to leave a child's initials. Please do not write their full name. This is for security reasons. Thank you!

    Circus Time

Wow!!! What an amazing first day in kindergarten. We can't wait for your little one to tell you all about the Russian Dog Circus we had at school today. It was an experience we will never forget. Ask your child about their first assembly at Chets today.

Nervous faces as we watch the dogs climb ladders. Yes...ladders!
We have the sweetest friends in our class!
They were so excited for their very first assembly!
They loved watching this clown try to lift these weights. :)

One of our very own friends was an assistant and held the hula hoop for the dogs to jump through. Way to go!

Welcome to the GREATEST school on Earth!

In our classroom, we are a family, we take risks, and we have fun! Are you ready to clown around and laugh? Well we are! Step right up and get your ticket for the show. We can't wait to watch our little ringmasters become self-directed learners, collaborative workers, complex thinkers, community contributors, and so much more!

Miss Wenzel and I wearing our "CRAFTY" ringmaster hats to get the classroom show ready!

Here's a sneak peak of your new classroom...

We look forward to meeting you all at orientation on August 21st at 9:00 am. Don't forget to bring your supplies with you to orientation so that we can get the room ready for the first day of school. Thank you!
